Programme Note
I have enjoyed a fruitful collaboration over several years with the pianist Ivan Ilic and wrote this short Prelude and Chorale specially for him. The piece is based on an original hymn tune that I wrote for the reopening of All Saints Church, Cellan, following its restoration, to the words (in Welsh) of ‘Am bawb y Saint’ (For all the Saints). The Prelude decorates the melody in the classical manner of a chorale prelude and a simple statement of the original hymn follows.
